Adventurous Ride Out West - Leg One
Pennsylvania, West Virgina and Kentucky
Starting off in Harrisburg, I will be sure to get an early start and pray the weather is going to treat me right. This segment is broken down into two maps. The first portion of this segment is a nice ride down to Charleston, West Virgina. There is a BMW National rally that will be held there later this year. I am hoping to get a good sample of the roads on the way out. Starting out on Interstate 81, I will follow Interstate 68 to Interstate 79. Interstate 64 will lead me the rest of the way into Kentucky.
The second portion of this of this segment will in include a ride through most of Kentucky. This is a state I have never been to. After passing Lexignton, I will travel Blue Grass Parkway into the Western Kentuckey Parkway. Taking Interstate 24 up to Paducah for a night at the KOA.
Arkansas and Texas
This part of the tour takes me through Arkansas. I rode through Arkansas my first time out to Oklahoma City. The landscape is beatiful and the people were friendly. I will be on a familiar part of Interstate 40. From Little rock I will be venturing out on Interstate 30 for the first time. This will take me into Texas. Riding straight through Dallas and Fort Worth I will pick up Interstate 20. This will leave my off at Abilene for the night. From there I should be able to get a good meal at the KOA's 50's style diner.
New Mexico and Arizona
The ride from Abilene to Tuscon is a straightforward one. Essentially it is Interstate 20 to Interstate 10 for a very long time. This is road I have never been on before. I am excited to ride through New Mexico. It should be beautiful.
