shupaza: Server Hardening via Cfengine

I am starting a project to define the architecture necessary for communicating system administration best practices va Cfengine. I am starting with the Solaris Security Toolkit. The idea is that the best practice of hardening a Solaris box is already defined. So we don't need to waste time make the decision of what the best practice is. All we need to do is focus on the implementation. The project is in the planning stages right now, I have started a page with a few more details. Once I have more information I will update the page and post a blog entry. Please email me with any ideas you might have. As for now I am reading the Solaris Security Toolkit code.

cfenginedoc 0.1.1 released

I finally got around to packaging this tool up. It only does the graphviz diagrams. It doesn't do the NaturalDocs generation yet. Though most of it is available. So you can ticker with it yourself if you want. Just click on here or CFENGINEDOC on the right.

Cfengine Style Guide and CFWiki

First things first I released my Cfengine Style Guide a couple of days ago. I got a lot of great feedback from people. Thanks for emailing.

This also spurred some collaboration for a new article. This article was what I originally wanted to write. But I took some time to figure out the process of using Guide XML for writing articles. Now that I have the process down I intend to kick out a few more articles.

Of course don't forget to download yoru latest version of the cfengine.vim developed as an alternative the the existing one. I am on version 0.3.

Today in #cfengine an idea of starting a wiki for cfengine was discussed. We should see something in a couple of days.

Cfengine Article with CVS for Configuration Versioning

Luke A. Kanies submitted a cfengine article to the O'Reilly site ONLamp. It has a short example of how to get cfengine running. It explains the Public keys needed for connections. It also makes use of CVS for updating the configuration files.
